Over 180 University of Albany Student-Athletes Named to America East Winter/Spring Honor Roll - UAlbany Sports 2009

Cambridge, Mass. – The University at Albany had 183 student-athletes named to the 2008-09 America East Conference Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. Student-athletes had to earn grade point averages of 3.0 or above to receive this recognition, with those earning a 3.5 GPA or better earning Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction. America East honored over 1,700 student-athletes from around the conference. UAlbany also had 79 student-athletes on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

The UAlbany women’s indoor track and field team featured the highest number of honorees for the Great Danes, with 31 student-athletes earning recognition. The women’s outdoor track and field team posted 30 members to the honor roll, while the indoor and outdoor men’s programs had 23 and 21 representatives, respectively. Women’s lacrosse featured 20 honorees, with a department-high 13 members reaching Commissioner’s Honor Roll status.

Rounding out the winter sports, the women’s basketball team boasted seven members on the honor roll, while men’s basketball had five student-athletes make an appearance. Men’s lacrosse had 15 team members on the list, including five reaching Commissioner’s Honor Roll status, while the baseball and softball programs had 11 and nine representatives, respectively. Four members of the America East Conference Champion golf team gained honor roll accolades, while seven UAlbany tennis team members were on the list.

Binghamton University had the most student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll with 273 recipients. University of Vermont came in second with 226 athletes recognized, followed by University of New Hampshire (204), Boston University (194), University at Albany and Stony Brook University (182), UMBC (168), University of Maine (162) and University of Hartford (139).
