Albany, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s tennis program, led by second-year head coach Elissa Kinard, earned the America East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
Kinard led the Great Danes to a program-record 18 wins this season. Kinard is assisted by former UAlbany student-athlete Kim Westcott, in her first season coaching the Great Danes. UAlbany won six straight matches during the season, led by junior Charlotte Tatler, who finished with a 24-5 record at No. 4 singles. The Great Danes wrapped up the 2008 season with a 4-0 sweep of Hartford in the America East Conference Tournament.
