University of Albany W Lacrosse Cracks National Top-20 Polls; Ariana Parker Chosen America East Rookie of the Week - UAlbany Sports 2011



Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Ariana Parker has been chosen America East Conference Rookie of the Week in women's lacrosse, as announced on Monday, March 7 by the conference office.

A native of Port Ewen, N.Y., Parker tied the program's freshman single-game record with seven goals in a 13-8 win over No. 20 Hofstra on Saturday, March 5. The Great Danes registered their second consecutive win over a national top-20 program. Parker scored three consecutive times to give her team a first-half lead. She netted a pair in a four-goal run that broke the game open early in the second half. Parker's goal total was one off the program's overall single-game mark.

Maria Ferrucci (2000) and Alexis DiDomenico (2001) also netted seven goals in a game as freshmen. Parker, who has nine goals in three games this season, was named to the 2010 U.S. Lacrosse High School All-America squad.

Paw Prints: UAlbany (3-0) is ranked No. 19 in both the IWLCA and deBeer/Inside Lacrosse national polls and has won its opening three games for the first time since 2006 ... UAlbany made its first-ever appearance in the IWLCA rankings on May 3, 2010 ... the Great Danes have posted victories in 10 of its last 11 non-conference games ... Taylor Frink had two goals and one assist vs. Hofstra ... the senior attacker moved into a tie for sixth on UAlbany's all-time assists list with 35 and needs two points to become the 13th UAlbany player to reach the 100-career mark ... UAlbany entertains Marist, last year's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion, at John Fallon Field on Wednesday, March 9 at 3:00 p.m.
