Albany, N.Y. – The University at Albany’s women’s basketball program will show their support of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) Breast Cancer Awareness Week on Saturday, Feb. 16 when the Great Danes meet America East Conference opponent Vermont. Tip-off at SEFCU Arena is 2:00 p.m.

More than 900 teams nationally are supporting the WBCA’s “Think Pink” initiative. The “Think Pink” program is a global, unified effort by the organization’s nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.

UAlbany is encouraging all fans to wear pink to Saturday’s game to show their support for the cause. Those that make a $2.00 donation to the Breast Cancer Fund will receive free admission. Members of the men’s basketball team will be among many UAlbany student-athletes and athletic staff who will be in attendance.

In addition, all fans will be eligible for a grand prize drawing during the game. A lucky fan will receive two basketball (chair back) and two football seasons tickets for the 2008-09 season. Giveaways include UAlbany gear and t-shirts, Mangia’s Restaurant gift certificates and free ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery. For tickets or to make a donation, contact the UAlbany Athletic Ticket Office at 518-442-4683.
