Bronx, N.Y.- University at Albany cross country's sophomore Kathryn Fanning and senior Chris Burke led their squads to a first and second place finish in the ECAC and IC4A Championships on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Van CortlandtPark in Bronx, N.Y. The Great Danes' women's cross country won the ECAC university division title for the second year in a row. Princeton men's cross country finished ahead of UAlbany's squad to take the IC4A championship division title.
The first four harriers for the UAlbany women's squad finished in the top-30 of 215 participants. After Fanning crossed the tape in first with a time of 18:06, junior Emily Finnegan placed 13th (18:41) followed by junior Melissa Del Rosario in 15th (18:43) and Miranda McConnell in 28th (19:08) to round out the top 30.
As for UAlbany's men's cross country team, senior Chris Burke finished first for the Great Danes and fourth overall (24:57). After Burke crossed the finish line, junior Ethan Clary came in with a time of 25:22 (10th) followed by teammates Paul Lagno (29th, 25:45) and Chris Buchanan (40th, 25:55) to round out the top 40 harriers in a field of 154.
This concludes both of UAlbany's men's and women's cross country seasons. Most of the squads runners will compete in both Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field to prepare for next season.
