University of Albany Men's Basketball Sophomore Logan Aronhalt Named America East Conference Basketball Co-Player of the Week - UAlbany Sports 2011


Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Logan Aronhalt has been chosen America East Conference Co-Player of the Week in men's basketball, as announced on Monday, Jan. 31 by the conference office. Aronhalt, who shared the honor with Binghamton's Mahamoud Jabbi, won the weekly award for the second time this season.

A native of Zanesville, Ohio, Aronhalt averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two games. He scored 20 of his 28 points in the second half as his team fought back for a 66-63 win over UMBC on Jan. 26. UAlbany rallied from 14 down in the final period to match its biggest road comeback as a Division I program. Aronhalt scored 20-plus for the sixth time this season and tied career-highs in three-pointers made (6) and assists (4). He also had 12 points and eight rebounds in last Saturday's 63-54 loss to second-place Vermont.

Aronhalt is fifth in the America East in scoring (15.3 ppg) and is fourth in three-point field goals made (2.4 pg). He has scored in double figures in 17 of 24 games this year.

Paw Prints: UAlbany (11-13, AE 4-5) will host the 14th annual Big Purple Growl on Saturday, Feb. 5th ... the University's Winter Homecoming features a men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Hartford, beginning at 4:30 p.m. ... both games will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports ... the event has attracted more than 4,000 fans in each of the last six years ... Saturday's SEFCU Arena crowd of 3,754 was the second largest of the 2010-11 season ... Tim Ambrose has moved to seventh on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,446 points ... Ambrose, a 6-foot senior, has scored in twin figures in 23 of 24 games this winter.
