Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Luke Devlin has been chosen America East Conference Rookie of the Week in men's basketball, as announced on Monday, Jan. 17 by the conference office. Devlin, a freshman from Sydney, Australia, received the weekly award for the third time this season.
Devlin, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in two games, plus shot 61.5 percent from the field. He made all four of his three-point field goal attempts. Devlin had 10 points and six rebounds against Maine and followed with an 11-point effort versus Boston University.
Devlin has been a starter in all 20 games this season. He leads the team in rebounding at 5.7 per game and is averaging 6.5 points. He has collected six or more rebounds against nine opponents.
Paw Prints: The Great Danes meet Stony Brook on Monday (Jan. 17) at 5:04 p.m. in America East play ... the conference clash will be televised by MSG-Plus and seen on ESPN 3 ... UAlbany has lost four in a row, including a pair of tightly-contested contests with Maine (66-64) and Boston U. (70-67) ... Tim Ambrose need 29 points to move among the UAlbany program's top 10 all-time scorers ... Ambrose, who had 1,376 points and 507 rebounds, is also 14th in career assists (267) and 18th in steals (104) ... Thursday's home game with Binghamton at SEFCU Arena will air on Time Warner Cable Sports.
