David McCarty & Jason Fralicker Receive Weekly Northeast Conference Football Awards

Somerset, N.J. – University at Albany’s David McCarty has been chosen as the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Saturday’s 45-17 victory over Robert Morris as announced on Monday, Nov. 5 by the conference office. McCarty earned the weekly award for the second time this season. UAlbany’s Jason Fralicker was named the NEC Special Teams Player of the Week.

McCarty, a sophomore tailback, rushed 27 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns, plus caught a 61-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. The UAlbany pass play was the program’s longest since Sept. 8, 2001. McCarty, who became the first Great Dane to scored three touchdowns in a game since the 2005 season finale, reached the end zone on runs of 35 and five yards. He accounted for 228 all-purpose yards. McCarty, who ran for 100 or more yards for the third straight game and has reached the century mark five times this season, ranks 26th among the NCAA Division I FCS leaders in rushing at 106.1 yards per game.

Fralicker, a senior placekicker, made a 33-yard field goal in the first quarter to tie his own single-season record with his 13th of the season. He added six point-after attempts and made a career-high four tackles, including three unassisted. Fralicker, who is the school’s all-time leader with 26 field goals, leads the team in scoring with 67, the eighth-best single-season total in the program’s history. He moved to 11th on the school’s career scoring list with 131 points.

UALBANY FOOTBALL REMAINS THIRD IN THE SPORTS NETWORK MID-MAJOR POLL

Albany, N.Y. – Following last Saturday’s 45-17 victory over Robert Morris, UAlbany remained third in The Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Mid-Major National Poll. Dayton and San Diego are first and second in the national rankings. The Great Danes also are receiving votes in The Sports Network’s FCS Top 25 Poll. Northern Iowa is No. 1 in that national poll.

UAlbany (6-3, NEC 4-0) posted its fifth consecutive win last week to match the program’s longest string of victories at the NCAA Division I FCS level. The Great Danes are in sole possession of first place in the NEC standings with two regular-season games to play. UAlbany’s offense is ranked 22nd nationally in rushing at 207.1 yards per game and seventh among the FCS leaders in turnover margin (+1.56 pg). The defense limited Robert Morris to 64 net rushing yards, the sixth opponent held under the 100-mark this season.
