University of Albany Field Hockey Ranked 18th in Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll - UAlbany Sports 2010


Albany, N.Y. - University at Albany has broken into the 2010 Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon. The Great Danes, who were receiving votes in the preseason poll, jumped up to an 18th-place ranking after starting the season with a 3-0 record.

UAlbany has won all three of its games to start the season, claiming overtime home wins against Hofstra and Virginia Commonwealth at the Capital Land Classic Tournament, before defeating Bucknell, 3-2, over the weekend. Junior Christina Patrick scored both game-winning goals in the overtime contests, while freshman Daphne Voormolen recorded all three goals for the Great Danes against Bucknell.

UAlbany will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 12, taking on fourth-ranked Connecticut at Alumni Turf Field at 2 p.m.
