UAlbany Ties New Hampshire 0-0 in America East Home Opener

Albany, N.Y. – The University at Albany tied New Hampshire, 0-0, in double overtime in America East Conference men’s soccer action at Varsity Field on Saturday, Oct. 13.

After a back-and-forth first half, the two teams went into intermission knotted at zero. The second half was much of the same and forced overtime. The two overtime periods did not produce a goal, despite chances for both teams. The biggest threat the Great Danes could muster was a shot by junior Don Johnson on a breakaway late in the first overtime period.

UAlbany outshot the Wildcats 15-14 in the contest, including a 3-2 advantage in the two overtime periods. New Hampshire registered 9-2 advantage in corner kicks, but the Great Danes kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard.

Reigning conference co-player of the week Steward Ceus made four saves in goal for UAlbany, while Mike Jenne recorded two saves in net for New Hampshire (3-4-5, AE 0-1-2).

UAlbany (2-7-2, AE 1-0-1) returns to action at home on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 4 p.m. against Boston U.
