Kamisha Kellam Leads UAlbany Volleyball to a 3-2 America East Victory Over Stony Brook

Albany, N.Y. – Junior middle blocker Kamisha Kellam recorded a team-high 18 kills and a match-high seven total blocks to lead UAlbany to a 3-2 win over Stony Brook in America East Conference volleyball action on Saturday evening. The Great Danes won with scores of 25-30, 31-29, 27-30, 30-28 and 15-11.

Kellam hit a team-best .333 for the match. Freshman outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey recorded her tenth double-double of the season, finishing with 16 kills and 15 digs, while also recording two solo blocks and one block assists. Senior middle blocker Ashley Crenshaw added 13 kills while sophomore outside hitter Valerie Sourbeer tallied 11 kills and four digs, hitting .308 for the match. Freshman setter Brooke Stanley had a career-high 67 assists to go along with eight digs and three kills.

Outside hitter Jackie Ahlers had a match-high 26 kills for Stony Brook. Morgan Sweany added 21 kills and had 10 digs to complete her double-double. Amy Oleksigj and Alicia Nelson tallied 10 and 11 kills, respectively. Setter Kaitlyn Deutsch had a double-double of the assist-dig variety, finishing with 64 assists and 14 digs. Libero Noelle Bay led the team defensively, finishing with 19 digs for Stony Brook (12-7, AE 0-1).

UAlbany (12-5, AE 2-0), which has now won ten straight matches dating back to Sept. 13, will return to action on Friday, Oct. 5, hosting America East opponent New Hampshire at 7 p.m. in University Gymnasium.
