Parker and O’Riley Atop Heptathlon After First Day at Army's Crowell Open

West Point, N.Y. – UAlbany’s David Parker and Kevin O’Riley rank first and second in the men’s heptathlon after the first day of competition at the Crowell Open hosted by Army at the Gillis Field House.

Parker, who has 2,749 points after four events, won the high jump with a height of 6-feet, 5-inches. He also came in second in the shot put with a toss of 36-9.75 and second in long jump (22-0.75). O’Riley was first in the long jump with a leap of 22-feet, 5.75-inches and has 2,529 total points) after day one. In addition, he tied for third in the high jump (5-6.50).

Nick Jones is in ninth place with 1,700 points. Jones’ best showing came in the high jump. The heptathlon finishes on Saturday with the 60-meter high hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run.

In Women's Indoor Track, UAlbany’s Valerie Maignan finished in sixth place in the pentathlon at Army’s Crowell Open on Friday afternoon at the Gillis Field House.

Maignan, a senior, posted a pair of third-place efforts in the high jump and long jump in accumulating 2,854 points. She cleared the bar at 4-feet, 11-inches and posted a leap of 16-11.25. Maignan came in fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.75 seconds. Sacred Heart’s Sarana Hyatt won the competition with 3,163 points.
