Gov. David Paterson just announced that a $50 million computer chip packaging center is going to be built at the University at Albanys College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.
The project, called the Computer Chip Hybrid Integration Partnership, or CHIP, will also include $27.5 million for a new computer chip commercialization center to be located at the SUNY Institute of Technology outside Utica that will support that UAlbany center.
The CHIP is expected to create 675 jobs, including 200 in Albany. Another 475 would be created near SUNY IT through supplier and contractor jobs.
