Brett Queener Returns to University of Albany as Men’s Lacrosse Volunteer Assistant - UAlbany Sports 2015
ALBANY, N.Y. – Former UAlbany standout goalkeeper Brett Queener has come back to his alma mater to serve as a volunteer assistant coach with the men’s lacrosse team for the 2015 season.
“Playing for Scott Marr and the UAlbany Great Danes was some of the greatest times in my life,” said Queener. “Now, I am extremely excited to announce that I will be taking my talents back to the 518, but this time, as a coach.”
After playing at Herkimer C.C., Queener came to UAlbany in 2006 and started in goal for the Great Danes the next three years, graduating in 2008. With a career 54.9% save percentage in the cage, he was a key part of the 2007 America East title team that was the first UAlbany men’s lacrosse team to win a Division I NCAA Tournament game, defeating Loyola in the first round.
Since his college days, Queener remains one of the top goalkeepers in Major League Lacrosse, earning All-Star honors as part of the Florida Launch in 2014, his fifth time being named an All-Star in six seasons. He also played three years with the Boston Blazers in the National Lacrosse League.
“Adding someone with Brett’s knowledge and enthusiasm for the game to our staff will prove to be invaluable,” said UAlbany head coach Scott Marr. “He is reunited with former teammates Liam Gleason and Eric Wolf to reach our ultimate goal!”
Queener comes onto Marr’s coaching staff for the 2015 season, joining Gleason, Wolf and Donald Shea.
