University of Albany's Paul Lagno Honored America East Conference Cross Country Performer Of The Week - UAlbany Sports 2011


Cambridge, Mass.- University at Albany's Paul Lagno has been selected as the America East Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, as announced on Tuesday, Sept. 13 by the conference office.

Lagno placed first and established a course record (18:11.7) over 6,000 meters at the Monmouth Kick-Off Classic on Sept. 3. The previous course record at Thompson Park in Lincroft, N.J. was held by teammate Alex Leuchanka at 18:28.1. The Salt Point, N.Y. native has now won the performer of the week twice in his career. He previously won the award in 2010 after finishing first at the 44th UAlbany Invitational.

The Great Danes have now won the Monmouth Kick-Off, for both men's and women's, in four consecutive seasons. UAlbany is currently ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA Northeast men's regional poll. The Great Danes will next compete at the Iona Meet of Champions on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, N.Y.
