Easton, Pa. - Nina Walters scored the game winner in the 41st minute of the game to give the Great Danes a 2-1 victory over Monmouth in a neutral-site, non-conference field hockey match Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks would score just past the first thirty seconds of the game, catching the Great Danes off guard with a loose ball shot from Michelle Pieczynski. UAlbany got a few scoring chances over the next few minutes and finally evened the score at 1-1 when Corrine McConville notched her eight goal on the season. The goal came off a rebound shot taken during the penalty corner attempt.

Coming out of the halftime, each team would look for the go-ahead goal ; UAlbany would succeed first in the 41st minute. With a few penalty corner attempts and scoring opportunities early on in the second stanza, Walters gave the Great Danes the lead. Taylor Luke fired a shot which bounced off a defender and into a great scoring position for Walters.

"As a team, we are still working out a few kinks and get stronger as we inch closer to conference play," said UAlbany Head Coach Phil Sykes. "Today we came back from a quick goal, showing resilience to get the win."
