University of Albany's Luke Devlin Named America East Conference Rookie of the Week for Second Time - UAlbany Sports 2011


Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Luke Devlin has been named America East Conference Rookie of the Week in men's basketball, as announced on Monday, Jan. 3 by the conference office. Devlin received the conference's weekly award for the second time this season.

A native of Sydney, Australia, the freshman forward averaged 9.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in three games. He recorded his second double-double of the season with a career-high 16 points and 10 rebounds against Wagner on Dec. 30. Devlin had eight points and four rebounds in Sunday's 59-44 victory over America East opponent New Hampshire. The Great Danes ended a three-game skid in league openers and halted a four-game slide in the UNH series.

A starter in all 16 games this season, Devlin is scoring at a 6.6 clip and leads the team and is 10th in the league in rebounding with a 5.8 average. UAlbany (8-8) is three wins better than last year at this point in the season.

Paw Prints: UAlbany limited New Hampshire to 30.2-percent shooting, the second-lowest total by an opponent this season, in Sunday's 59-44 decision ... the Great Danes held a conference opponent to its lowest point total since a 61-42 win over Hartford on Jan. 27, 2005 ... UAlbany shot better than 50 percent for the sixth time this year ... Tim Ambrose is second in America East in scoring at 17.6 points per game ... Ambrose has extended his double-figure scoring streak to 16 consecutive games ... Logan Aronhalt is fourth in the league in scoring at 15.8 points per game.
