University of Albany's Tim Ambrose Chosen America East Conference Player of the Week for Second Straight Time - UAlbany Sports 2010


Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Tim Ambrose has been chosen America East Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball, as announced on Monday, Dec. 13 by the conference office. The 6-foot senior earned the award for the second consecutive week and third time in his career.

A native of Brentwood, N.Y., Ambrose scored 21 points and the go-ahead basket with eight seconds remaining in leading UAlbany to last Saturday's 64-63 victory over Central Connecticut State. After the Great Danes saw an 18-point, second-half advantage slip away, Ambrose tied contest at 60 apiece with a steal and layup. He then made a 12-foot jumper from left of the lane to put his team back on top for good. Ambrose, who scored 20-plus for the 18th time as a collegian, added five rebounds, five assists and a season-high four steals. He also netted a team-high 15 points against Yale on Dec. 6 and has scored in double figures in all 11 games this season.

Ambrose is fourth among the America East scoring leaders with a 17.1 average. He is also third in assists (3.6 pg), fifth in steals (1.7 pg) and fifth in field goal percentage (.522).
