UAlbany & Binghamton Meet Tonight at SEFCU Arena in America East Conference Opener

Albany, N.Y. - UAlbany meets Binghamton in the America East Conference opener for both teams on Thursday, Jan. 7. Tip-off is 7:05 p.m. Eastern. Fans can listen to the contest on Fox Sports Radio, AM 980, with Rodger Wyland and Greg Tobben handling the broadcast.

Binghamton (5-10) captured the America East championship and earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth with a 23-9 record last year. After the celebration, the Bearcats experienced some off-season issues and the result is that former assistant Mark Macon has taken over as interim head coach. Macon, an All-America guard under John Chaney at Temple University, played in the NBA for six seasons. Greer Wright, a 6'7" junior who transferred from City College of San Francisco, is having a productive first season with the program. Wright is averaging 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds. Chretien Lukusa and Moussa Camara were both members of last year's conference championship squad. Lukusa (8.4 ppg) is a good defender who made 11 starts as a sophomore. Camara, who hails from Paris, France, is scoring at 7.7 points per game as a reserve. Dylan Talley, a 6-foot-5 guard who scores at a 10.4 clip, is one of the top freshmen in the conference. Pina Guillaume, a 6-foot-9, 245-pound freshman, scored 19 points, on 9-of-12 shooting, and grabbed nine rebounds in his last outing against LaSalle.

UAlbany (5-10) ended a four-game skid with an 89-68 victory over Yale on Jan. 3 to conclude the non-conference schedule. The Great Danes were playing at home for the first time in 42 days. Sopohomore Billy Allen struck for a career-high 21 points, while Logan Aronhalt added a career-best 13 off the bench, as their team posted its highest scoring total since the 2005-06 season opener. Will Harris (15.3 ppg) and Tim Ambrose (14.8 ppg) are among the America East's top scorers. The Great Danes and Binghamton have split their two regular-season meetings in each of the previous three seasons.
