University of Albany Great Danes Head to America East Conference Tennis Championship at Yale - UAlbany Sports 2009

Albany, N.Y. – UAlbany will compete at the 20th America East Conference Women’s Tennis Championship, scheduled Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26 at Yale University’s Tennis Center. The opening round begins Friday with semifinal action played on Saturday. The league championship title, with an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship on the line, will be handed out on Sunday.

Defending champion Boston University, which has won the past 15 consecutive conference titles, will compete as the No. 1 seed. Binghamton is seeded second, followed by Stony Brook in third. UMBC and UAlbany will compete as the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively, while Hartford rounds out the six-team field.

UAlbany (16-4) was riding a five-match winning streak before falling to conference-rival Binghamton last weekend. Sophomore Susan Ma has recorded a 10-5 record at the No. 1 position. Senior Charlotte Tatler has the Great Danes’ best record this season, going 16-4 overall, including an 11-3 mark at No. 3 singles.

Match 3 – Loser of Match 1 vs. Loser of Match 2, 1 p.m.
Match 4 – Winner of Match 1 vs. #1 Boston U., 1 p.m.
Match 5 – Winner of Match 2 vs. #2 Binghamton, 1 p.m.

Sunday, April 27
Match 6 – Winner of Match 4 vs. Winner of Match 5 (Championship), 11 a.m.
