ALBANY, N.Y. – Former UAlbany standout guard Evan Singletary has signed a professional contract to play for BK Iskra Svit in Slovakia for the 2016-17 season.
Singletary, a two-time America East All-Conference First Team guard, started both years at UAlbany after transferring from Moberly Community College.
The 2014-15 Riley Wallace Finalist for top transfer in Division I averaged 13 points and 2.9 assists per game, helping the Great Danes to a pair of postseason appearances and the 2014-15 America East Tournament title.
“I am excited for Evan, as it has been a goal of his to play professional basketball,” said UAlbany head coach Will Brown. “He is a dynamic point guard who will enjoy tremendous success and a great career in Europe.”
Singletary joins UAlbany alumni Jamar Wilson, Peter Hooley and Ray Sanders as former Great Dane men’s basketball players currently playing professionally.
Iskra Svit plays in the Slovak Extraliga, the top professional league in Slovakia, in the western part of the nation. The team was a semifinalist in the league in 2012 and 2014 plus was the Slovakian Cup winner in 2014. The team begins its 36-game season on October 8th.
