Orlando, Fla. - Laura Bouet defeated Laine Mackey, 6-0, 5-7, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, while also teaming up with Suzan Lisenby for a win at second doubles to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a 5-2 win over UAlbany in Orlando on Thursday afternoon.
UAlbany's Livia Gherman was victorious at No. 1 singles, falling 4-6 in the first set before rallying for scores of 6-4 and 14-12 in the next two, defeating Eva Dalvai. Freshman Sarah Iannone also won her match at No. 6 singles with straight set scores of 6-3, 6-3 over Holly Davis. The Kangaroos earned four singles points with Bouet's three-set win over Mackey, followed by wins at third, fourth and fifth singles. Chelsea Horner posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Susan Ma while Lisenby defeated Caitlin Crowley, 6-1, 6-2. Jillian Yakominich sealed up the singles points for UMKC with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Aubrey Brooks at No. 5 singles.
In doubles action, UAlbany claimed a win at the top position, as Gherman and Mackey defeated Dalvai and Horner, 8-4. However, the Kangaroos took the doubles point with wins in the other two matches. Bouet and Lisenby combined for an 8-5 win over Ma and Crowley, while Iannone and Brooks played strongly before falling to Yakominich and Jessica Ball at No. 3.
UAlbany will wrap up its spring break trip on Saturday with a match against Florida Atlantic.
