University of Albany Women's Golf Takes Down Siena - UAlbany Sports 2016
ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s golf team carded a 318, overcoming crosstown rival Siena (337) by 19 strokes Sunday afternoon at Albany Country Club.
“I'm very happy with our performance today. I personally think Albany CC is one of the most difficult courses in the area,” head coach Colleen Cashman-McSween. “Anytime we can shoot three rounds in the 70's and beat Siena by 19 strokes, that's a job well done.”
UAlbany senior Paige Fujiara tied with Siena’s Kristen Bromley for the individual title, both shooting a +6 78. “At the beginning of the week, we weren't sure if Paige would be able to play because of injury. It was great to see her battle and lead the team,” added Cashman-McSween. “She's a fighter and I know this event meant a lot to her being her final home match of her career.”
Junior Annie Songeun Lee and freshman Megan Henry finished one stroke back with 79’s, followed by senior Rosalle Hearns’ 82 and freshman Annika Espino’s 83 to close out the Great Danes’ official lineup.
Up next, UAlbany competes in the Quinnipiac Classic Oct. 10-11 at New Haven Country Club in Hamden, Conn.
