BUFFALO, N.Y. – UAlbany men’s lacrosse alum Jon Newhouse will play in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) ranks, signing a contract with the Buffalo Bandits this week.

In his four-year UAlbany career, Newhouse served as the team’s primary LSM the last three seasons, compiling 86 ground balls, 41 caused turnovers and three goals.  His junior season he scooped 44 ground balls and caused 22 turnovers.  He was part of a UAlbany defense that helped the Great Danes win a pair of America East titles in 2013 and 2014.

Last season, UAlbany alumni Joe Resetarits and Dave Brock each suited up for the Bandits.

Newhouse is the third UAlbany player to join the NLL ranks this season.  A couple of weeks ago, Miles Thompson was drafted by the Minnesota Swarm, while Ty Thompson was selected by the New England Black Wolves.

The Bandits begin their season on January 2, 2015 on the road, taking on Ty Thompson’s Black Wolves at 7 p.m. in Connecticut.
