UAlbany Field Hockey Concludes 2012 Regular Season Ranked #21 in the Nation




ALBANY, N.Y. -- The University at Albany field hockey team concludes the regular season as one of the top teams in the nation, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon. The Great Danes have been ranked since the first week of the 2010 season, and come in at #21 on the poll this week.

UAlbany (11-7) sealed up the second seed in the upcoming America East Conference Championship Tournament with a 1-0 win over Vermont in the America East field hockey regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon. Daphne Voormolen scored her ninth goal of the season, as UAlbany outshot Vermont, 31-6, and held a 14-2 advantage in penalty corners. Senior goalkeeper Kristi Troch made four saves in the cage for the Great Danes

The Great Danes will travel to New Hampshire for the America East tournament, and will take on third-seeded Maine on Friday at 5 p.m.
