University of Albany Men's Track & Field Defends America East Title For The Eighth Consecutive Year - UAlbany Sports 2012

Orono, Maine- UAlbany men's track and field team took home the gold at the America East Conference Championship with a team score of 181 on Sunday, May 6. The Great Danes completed the "Triple Crown" by winning the America East Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships all in one year. The last time the triple crown was achieved was back in the 1988-89 season which was done by Northeastern.

The Great Danes took home five gold medals, one on the track and four in the field events. Kadeem Howell was highlighted as the Most Outstanding Field Performer with his 7.08 meter-mark in the long jump and the 14.73-meter mark that placed him first in the respective events.

On the track, the 4x100-meter relay team of Earnest Waters, Rashawn Simpson, Donald Williams Jr. and Jonathan Santana, Jonathan took home the gold with an IC4A qualifying time of 41.25.

In the field, Alexander Bowen took the high-jump crown with a mark of 2.10 meters. Alfonso Scannipieco took home first place in the pole vault with 4.95 mark.
