University of Albany's Tiffany Sprenkels Qualifies for ECAC Triple Jump at Armory Collegiate Challenge - UAlbany Sports 2011


New York, N.Y. - University at Albany's Tiffany Sprenkels qualified for the ECAC championship meet in the women's triple jump for the second consecutive year at the Armory Collegiate Challenge, held at the Armory Track & Field Center on Friday, Feb. 25.

Sprenkels, a senior from Squamash, British Columbia, leaped 39-feet, 0.50-inches to finish fourth in the competition. She will join her teammates at the ECAC Championship on March 5-6 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. Wagner's Tiffany Dawson won the event with a mark of 39-10.

UAlbany's Christen Griffin placed second in the 60-meter dash with a season-best time of 7.73 seconds. She finished fifth at last weekend's America East Conference championship. Ashley Mahlmeister tied her best time of the winter in the 60-meter hurdles and was fourth in 8.88 seconds.

In the men's competition, Kareem Morris posted his second-best leap of the year with a mark of 22-feet, 11-inches in the long jump. Morris, a freshman who finished fourth in the event, had previously met the qualifying standard for next week's IC4A championship to be conducted at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. Kadeem Howell and Jordan Pollock were third and fourth, respectively, in the triple jump. Howell jumped 45-6.25, while Pollock's best mark was 45-3.75. Elijah Pardo was fifth in the 60-hurdles (8.35), while Greg Kiley took sixth in the mile run (4:15.10).
