UAlbany ROTC Cadet Alex Saxby Wins Prestigious USAA Spirit Award Scholarship


UAlbany senior Alex Saxby, receipient of the USAA Spirit Award scholarship for ROTC cadets who best embody the concept of service to the community, the U.S. Army, and the nation.

University at Albany senior and ROTC member Alex Saxby won a United Services Automobile Association (USAA) Spirit Award scholarship, which acknowledges cadets who best embody the concept of service to the battalion, the community, the U.S. Army, and the nation.

"Cadet Saxby is by far one of our top cadets," said ROTC Major Michaela M. Phillips. "His leadership as Commander of Charlie Company, the cadet organization here at UAlbany, has generated motivation to improve levels of physical fitness, technical knowledge, and leadership. He gets results and is definitely deserving of the USAA Spirit Award."

Saxby, from Bloomfield, N.Y., is a senior majoring in political science. The Army ROTC Department will recognize his achievements at a joint awards ceremony at the end of the spring semester.
