University of Albany´s Chris Ott & Dave Noble Earn America East Conference Baseball All-Academic Honors - UAlbany Sports 2009

Cambridge, Mass. – University at Albany’s Chris Ott and Dave Noble were both named to the America East Conference All-Academic Baseball Team, as announced by the league office on Monday, June 8. Ott, a senior pitcher, owns the highest grade point average of the 11 honorees, posting a 3.81 with a major in biology.

Noble, a senior pitcher from Bronx, N.Y., posted a 3.76 GPA in accounting with a minor in business administration. The lefthander posted a 7.88 ERA in 17 appearances out of the bullpen. He struck out 17 opposing batters in 24 innings of work. Noble is also a member of the UAlbany Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Ott made 10 appearances this season, starting two games while coming out of the bullpen in eight contests. A member of the UAlbany Athletics Honor Roll, Ott recently received the Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award, given to the school’s top senior male and female student-athletes with the highest GPA. He is also a member of Athletes Helping Athletes.

To earn a spot on the America East all-academic squad, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve for their team, and participate in at least 50 percent of their team’s games or competitions. Pitchers are required to have thrown at least 10 innings. In the classroom, student-athletes must have a 3.30 GPA and have completed at least one year at their institution.
