Albany, N.Y. – The University at Albany field hockey team, which claimed the America East Conference regular-season title outright for the first time since joining the league in 2001, is the top seed and will host the America East Championship this weekend at Alumni Turf Field on campus.

The Great Danes will face fourth-seeded Boston University on Friday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. in the first semifinal contest, with #2 New Hampshire and #3 Maine play in the second semifinal at 4 p.m. The championship game will take place on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. The winner receives an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament field.

UAlbany (10-9, AE 4-1) claimed its first regular-season field hockey crown after defeating New Hampshire, 3-1, on Nov. 2. New Hampshire (8-10, AE 3-2) earned the tournament’s No. 2 seed by winning a tiebreaker over both Maine (6-9, AE 3-2) and Boston U. (10-9, AE 3-2) based on total goals scored in conference games. A tiebreaker also had to be used to determine the three and four seeds, which the Black Bears won based on head-to-head play. Maine defeated Boston University earlier this season, 2-1.
