ALBANY, N.Y.- The University at Albany field hockey team received 239 votes in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll to be ranked No. 13 in the nation.

The Great Danes opened their season 3-0 for the first time since 2010. UAlbany ranks first in goal differential (4.67) and first in goals against average (0.33), with freshman Maxi Primus in the cage. The squad downed Bryant 8-0 and Providence 4-1 on opening weekend. The Great Danes also shut out Cornell this past weekend 3-0 at Alumni Field.
The No. 13 ranking is the highest for UAlbany since 2011, when the team was ranked No. 12 going into the America East conference semifinals.
