Albany, N.Y. - Seven University at Albany field hockey student-athletes were represented by the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad as announced Monday, March 5.
Kristi Troch, Taylor Luke and Brianna Schwoyer are making their third straight appearance on the list. Nina Walters, Daphne Voormolen, Chantae Miller and Karlijn van Dijsseldonk join the group as well for the first time.
The National Academic Squad recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. Seventy-seven division one institutions had student-athletes recognized on the academic list.
The entire field hockey program was recognized as well for accumulating a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. UAlbany were among 65 division one schools to receive this honor. The National Academic Squad recognized teams with a minimum 3.0 GPA during the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year.
