UAlbany downs Binghamton in America East Volleyball action

Albany, N.Y. – UAlbany’s Teresa Coppiellie recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 17 kills and 15 digs to lead the Great Danes to a 3-1 win over Binghamton in America East Conference volleyball action on Friday evening at University Gymnasium. UAlbany won with scores of 30-24, 28-30, 30-27 and 30-24.

Coppiellie also finished with three service aces and two total blocks for UAlbany. Freshman Amanda Cowdrey recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs while junior Kamisha Kellam finished with 13 kills and 11 total blocks, including five solo. Senior Ashley Crenshaw added 12 kills and three total blocks. Freshman setter Brooke Stanley led all players with 55 assists and also recorded six service aces, five digs, four block assists and two kills. Freshman libero Tawny Dahmes recorded a match and career-high 30 digs.

Senior Jacki Kane led Binghamton with 15 kills while Ashley Allen finished with a double-double, recording 11 kills and 17 digs. Setter Lindsey Mueller also had a double-double for the Bearcats with 41 assists and 16 digs, along with three service aces. Libero Jaclyn Strader had 21 digs for Binghamton (15-16, AE 6-4).

UAlbany (16-8, AE 5-3) will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 4, hosting America East rival UMBC at 3 p.m. The Great Danes will honor their two graduating seniors, Crenshaw and Natasha Marquis, prior to the start of the match.
