Albany, N.Y. – Michele Polizois scored both goals for UAlbany, including a penalty stroke in the first half, to lead the Great Danes to a 2-1 victory over Temple at Alumni Turf Field on Friday afternoon.
Polizois netted her first goal of the game in the first half, sending a penalty stroke past Owl goalkeeper Erin Hanshue at 14:09. The junior midfielder doubled the score in the second half, converting a penalty corner at the 51:41 mark, with assists going to Jess Lindsey and Anouk Vandenberg.
Temple got on the board with just over three minutes remaining, as Ali Lokey scored off assists by Leanne Vogelsong and Charise Young on the Owls’ sixth penalty corner of the half.
The teams were even with eight shots apiece, while Temple held a slight advantage in penalty corners with nine to UAlbany’s eight. Junior goalkeeper Ashley Ross made six saves in the game for the Great Danes while Hanshue stopped five shots in the cage for Temple (3-2).
UAlbany (3-2) will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 9, hosting 10th-ranked Ohio at 1 p.m.
