Albany, N.Y. – Kim Weltman earned a win in No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles to lead the UAlbany women’s tennis team to a 7-0 victory over Union on Tuesday afternoon at University Bubble. Weltman won her No. 2 singles match in straight sets over Roni Brumberger (6-2, 6-0) and then paired up with Amanda Hall for an 8-1 win over Hallie Mabrey and Jessica Meola.
In other singles action, Susan Ma defeated Mabrey in No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-2), Aimee Kern took the win in No. 3 singles over Kathleen Rucci (6-0, 6-3), and Charlotte Tatler earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Meola at the No. 4 singles spot. Caitlin Crowley beat Marla Feldman (8-6) at No. 5 singles and Melissa Coughlin won at No. 6 singles over Libby Johnson (8-3).
At No. 2 doubles, Ma and Tatler defeated Brumberger and Rucci (8-2), and Crowley Kern completed the sweep for the Great Danes, beating Johnson and Feldman (8-1).
UAlbany (2-0) will next play in the ITA Regional Championships Oct. 18-19 in Norfolk, Va.
