Vestal, N.Y. – Amanda Cowdrey and Brooke Stanley both recorded double-doubles to lead the UAlbany volleyball to a 3-1 win over Binghamton in America East Conference action on Monday evening. Cowdrey finished with a match-high 20 kills to go along with 17 digs while Stanley recorded 48 assists and 10 digs for the Great Danes, who won with scores of 30-23, 28-30, 30-27 and 30-24.
Cowdrey and Stanley also combined for seven service aces in the match for UAlbany. Junior middle blocker Kamisha Kellam finished with double-digit kills, recording16 to go along with five total blocks. Senior middle blocker Ashley Crenshaw, who totaled five block assists, also added 13 kills. Freshman libero Tawny Dahmes led the Great Danes defensively with 18 digs while sophomore outside hitter Kate Eckhardt recorded seven kills, nine digs, six assists, three solo blocks and two service aces.
Binghamton (11-14, AE 3-2), which had not lost on its home court in America East play since 2004, was led by Kathleen Schauer with 16 kills. Michelle McDonough recorded a double-double of the kill-dig variety, tallying 12 kills and 13 digs along with five solo blocks. Jacki Kane, who also finished with five solo blocks, added 10 kills for the Bearcats.
UAlbany (14-7, AE 4-2) will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 21, as they visit crosstown-rival Siena at 4 p.m.
