UALBANY MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH 4-0

Richmond, Va. – Pat Viray scored two goals and added one assist to lead Virginia Commonwealth to 4-0 victory over the University at Albany in men’s soccer action on Sunday afternoon in the final match of the Nike/Alltel Classic at Virginia Commonwealth's Sports Backers Stadium.

The Rams got on the board in the 20th minute on a penalty kick by Gerson Dos Santos. VCU tacked on another goal just before the intermission with a tally from 15 yards out into the left corner of the goal by Owusu Sekyere off a feed through the middle by Pat Viray.

VCU added two insurance goals by Viray in the 84th and 85th minutes. Viray scored into the left-hand corner on a breakaway down the right side to make it 3-0. Twenty-five seconds later he scored off a feed from Alan Delahunty and Carlos Herdy to make it 4-0.

UAlbany was outshot by the Rams 20-8 on the afternoon. The Rams and Great Danes each took two corner kicks.

Ceus registered four saves in 90 minutes of action, while Andrew Dykstra recorded just one save for VCU (2-0).

UAlbany (1-1) will return to action on Friday, Sept. 7, against Cornell at 5 p.m. in the opening match of Colgate University’s Raiders Adidas Fall Classic in Hamilton, N.Y.
