University of Albany's Adrian Foncette Voted America East Conference Fans' Choice Soccer Player of The Year - UAlbany Sports 2011


Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany s men's soccer goalkeeper Adrian Foncette has been voted America East Conference Fans' Choice Player of the Year. Foncette received 195 votes (35%). Boston U.'s Stephen Knox came in second place with 113 (20%) votes and Vermont's Yannick Lewis received 80 (14%) votes to round out the top three. More than 550 fans vote for the award through a web-based system.

Foncette, a starter in all 14 matches this season, has tallied 64 saves and accrued a .790 saves percentage, both figures are second among goalkeepers in the America East. Foncette, an Arima, Trinidad native, has recorded 262 saves and 12 shutouts in his career as a Great Dane, which places him fourth all-time in each category among the program's all-time leaders.

Foncette and the Great Danes prepare to play the Vermont Catamounts in the America East Conference Tournament's quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Centennial Field. UAlbany is making its first conference postseason appearance since 2008 under first-year head coach Trevor Gorman.
