University of Albany Men Soccer's Adrian Foncette Named to America East 2nd Team; Pomare Te Anau on Rookie Team - UAlbany Sports 2011


Cambridge, Mass.- Univeristy at Albany's Adrian Foncette was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team, as announce by the league office on Thursday, Nov. 3. Pomare Te Anau was also recognized by the conference as a member of the All-Rookie Team. Both players and the Great Danes will be in preparation for Saturday, Nov. 5 America East Quarterfinal match against Vermont at 1 pm.

Foncette, an Arima, Trinidad native, has excelled in his four years playing at UAlbany. For his career, Foncette has tallied the program's fourth best in career saves (262) and shutouts (12). This season has been by far Foncette's best as a starter with season bests in wins (5), shutouts (4), and goals against average (1.15). The Great Dane goalkeeper, as compared to the rest of the goalkeepers in the America East, is second in both save percentage (.790), total saves (64), and fourth in goals against average (1.15).

Te Anau, a native of Auckland, New Zealand, has brought a bright spot to the Great Danes' future. This season, Te Anau has recorded four goals and four assists for a total of 12 points. The freshman standout was recognized twice this season as America East Rookie of the Week (Aug.27-Sept.5, Oct. 3-9).
