Arina Gerasimova Sets School Record in the Triple Jump at FasTrack Invitational

New York, N.Y. – Senior Arina Gerasimova and junior Jenn Gurrant each eclipsed the school record in the triple jump to lead UAlbany at NYU’s FasTrack Invitational at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center in New York City on Friday, Feb. 29.

Gerasimova placed second in the triple jump with a school record leap of 42-feet, 7-inches, while Gurrant surpassed her previous school record with a leap of 42-feet, 0-inches. Both leaps are ECAC-qualifying and NCAA provisional-qualifying marks. Gurrant set the previous school record of 41-feet, 9.25-inches on Feb. 23 at the America East Championships. Gurrant also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 4.50-inches.

In men’s competition, junior Nick Assini placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.57 seconds. Senior Will Anger registered a season-best distance of 53-feet, 8.50-inches in the weight throw to place seventh. Sophomore Dong Ning Hu had a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 44-feet and senior Renauld Buck placed ninth in the shot put with a toss of 47-feet, 11.75-inches.
