Women's Lacrosse Raises Funds for Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorder Center on Monday, Oct. 8

Albany, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s lacrosse program will conduct a clinic and three-on-three tournament on Monday, Oct. 8 at John Fallon Field on campus in an effort to raise funds for the Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorder Center. The clinic and tournament, held for girls between fifth and 12th grades, is scheduled from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The event is being held in the honor of Meghan Ladouceur, the sister of current UAlbany freshman Tee Ladouceur, and Kate Sullivan, a freshman on last year’s Great Danes’ squad. Meghan Ladouceur, a sophomore on the girls’ lacrosse team at Bethlehem Central High School, has Stage II Lymphoma, a cancer that starts in the lymphatic tissue. Sullivan had a benign brain tumor removed last June and is expected to return to school for the 2008 spring semester.

Teams will advance in this three-on-three, half-field tournament through bracket play, with game officials working as volunteers. The clinic and tournament is $30.00 per person, with checks made payable to “Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorder Center.” All participants will receive a “Relentless” t-shirt. Proceeds will benefit the Albany Medical Pediatric Oncology Unit and Student Care for Kids.

UAlbany head lacrosse coach Lindsey Hart and assistant coach Jen Fluck are serving as associate directors of the Columbus Day fund-raising event.
