Teresa Boring Lifts UAlbany Over Indiana State

Youngstown, Ohio – Freshman striker Teresa Boring headed home the winning goal off of a Caitlin Mulligan corner kick in the 72nd minute to lead UAlbany to a 2-1 win over Indiana State on Sunday morning at the Penguin Classic in Youngstown, Ohio. The Great Danes improved their record to 3-2-2 and are off to the program’s best start since 1994.

UAlbany got on the scoreboard at the 47:47 mark courtesy of an own goal. Indiana State’s Caitlin Noble got the equalizer in the 69th minute when she buried a rebound off of a Whitney McInnis shot, setting the stage for Boring’s second game-winner in as many games just three minutes later. The tally was the freshman forward’s team-leading fourth of the season.

The Great Danes outshot the Sycamores 21-13. UAlbany’s Maria Liguori made six stops in net, while Rachel Rudzis saved eight shots for Indiana State.

UAlbany will look to extend its unbeaten streak to six games when they travel to William & Mary on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
